Mendota Police Department
Tuesday, 16 June 2009
On May 12th, the City Council voted to reactivate the Mendota Police Department, and passed a resolution on May 26th which allows the City to proceed with the necessary steps to start our own police department. The City is working fast and diligently to ensure that the new Mendota Police Department is well trained, equipped, and dedicated to serving our community, protecting our residents, and improving the lives of all who dwell within the City of Mendota. The Fresno County Sheriff’s Department will still be the law enforcement agency until the department is activated, and for any emergency please call the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department numbers listed on the back page, or 911 if it is a real emergency.

Message from Code Enforcement
Tuesday, 16 June 2009
As summer begins I would like to remind you of playing safely. Please keep in mind that the portable basketball hoops are not allowed on City streets and must be kept from blocking the City sidewalks or public right away. Violators are subject to an administrative citation under Mendota Municipal Code 9.08.010 Obstruction. We have also seen an increase in roosters, chickens and livestock in the city limits. We are reminding you that possession of roosters, chickens and livestock is prohibited in the City under Mendota Municipal Code 6.40.010. Administrative citations will be issued to violators. If you are in possession of these types of animals, please find alternate homes for them prior to code enforcement or animal control contacting you.

Notice

Please beware of people asking to paint your address numbers on city curbs. These folks are not employed by the City and they would require a permit from the City. There are several reports of these subjects charging a fee of $5.00 dollars and not completing the work . If you are approached and are asked to have your address numbers painted on the curb please contact Mendota City Hall at (559) 655-3291 Monday through Friday from 8-5 or Mendota Code Enforcement Officers Hector Soria @ (559)630-2849 or John Moreno @ (559) 367-6284.

Thank you,

Hector Soria Senior Code Enforcement Officer
